DOG CHEWABLE COMPARISON CHART - 2018
Dog Chewies We've Been Trying Out
Dog Chewies We've Been Trying Out
Right now, Stormy and spouse have a standard poodle puppy who is only 4 1/2 months old but seems to be growing into a horse. She had very sharp puppy teeth that could go through giant chewables at the age of 12 weeks, but now that she's got some baby teeth missing, some tiny land shark teeth still there, and some thicker adult teeth growing in - she doesn't seem to know what to do. We have tried a lot of products and they've been hit or miss at different stages, so for keeping your puppy or dog occupied, these are some items on Amazon to look at.
Top Dog Toys, Top Dog Chewables - for Active Chewers and Mouthy Dogs
Nylabone Healthy Edibles |
Hartz Oinkies Tender Treats |
Hartz Oinkies Chicken Wrapped |
Golden Rewards Duck Jerky |
Pros: These were our first go-to. Great for big dogs but our puppy could gnaw through it with those sharp baby teeth. We loved them and suspect we will keep buying when she's older. |
Pros: These were the first we tried when our standard poodle (80 lb Daddy) was 10 weeks old. They lasted about an hour. She still loves them, but they don't last. |
Pros: This was the upgrade to the Tender Treats. They still do well for our 18 week old dog and they last her about an hour now. They seem to hurt her mouth because she's losing baby teeth, so she isn't consistent with them, but we'll keep them handy for later. |
Pros: These were a recent find. Right now they are our total GO-TO. They are thick enough to last although she's getting near 30 lbs, but apparently chewy enough for her to enjoy them in spite of some missing baby teeth. |
Cons: When her adult "big dog" teeth started to come in, she seemed to go off of these. Maybe they are too tough for now. |
Cons: A lot of people don't like Hartz products, but unless it's for the skin I haven't had trouble. Our Ripley is about 25 lbs now and still loves these, but they now last 10 or 15 minutes. |
Cons: Hartz gets a bad rap, but these treats have zero rawhide, are highly digestible, and have yet to give our dog tummy trouble. (I can't say the same for eating acorns from the backyard.) |
Cons: I am not sure if these will work when her adult teeth come in all the way or whether she will just ignore them or swallow them whole. I think they do make bigger sizes for later. |

Both our cats are loving these right now. We listed them mainly because our older Siamese struggles with weight loss, but she drinks these broths anytime we offer them. |
This is new to us, we had been using a lightweight litter that we bought locally. Even lightweight was killing us so we are trying this via delivery. It's on sale now! |
We waited to list this. We tried planting last year in the Fall to increase our Monarch butterfly fly-bys! It did work and we have the pictures to prove it, so I'll try to get a link up with those. This is what we planted and will try again this year: |
These were recommend just from what we've been shopping for and trying out, so they are here for you to check out! In particular, the Carlson pet gate listed below is better than expected. You have to get used to opening it, but for homes with big dogs, cats, and people who need doors- this Carlson gate is awesome. |
